Masked and unmasked photos of Liz SmithIn her position at UNT, Liz works with students who are paying their tuition bills and that can sometimes be a stressful experience. It's a great feeling when she can help a student resolve an issue, she says. An alumna of UNT, she also enjoys working here because of the close ties she has with her coworkers. Pre-COVID, the department regularly held potlucks and fun gatherings. Post-COVID, the team has kept in touch virtually -- even having themed dress-up days for their Zoom meetings. "Everyone here makes me feel very valued," Liz says.

Pre-COVID you could find David and other officers handing out cookies or coffee during finals week, giving safety presentations to groups in the Library or at other locations on campus, and representing UNT Police on various UNT committees. He believes it is important to be a department that serves the community's safety needs. "I really appreciate working with the community and the various input we receive from faculty, staff and students," David says. "Our department helps make campus safe so that the UNT community and work and learn in the best environment possible."
