UNT Police to offer self-defense class

Corporal David Causey discusses self defense techniques with a class.The UNT Police Department will offer a self-defense class from 1:30 to 5 pm on April 4, 2023.

T.E.S.T., which stands for Threatening Encounters and Strategies Techniques, will be offered at the Pohl Rec Center to a limited number of UNT community members for free. To register for the class, email UNT Police Community Relations officer, Cpl. David Causey, at David.Causey@unt.edu.

The university police department conducts a self-defense class at least once each fall and spring semester. This class, along with other safety programming, is always free to UNT students, faculty and staff members.

UNT community members who would like to participate in a program or learn more can follow @UNTPolice on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook to get information whenever there is a class or they can reach out to Cpl. Causey directly to schedule something in their area.

Cpl. Causey also conducts safety assessments for departments on campus to help them better understand what steps they can take to ensure a more secure environment on campus.
