Rafiu Fashina, Associate Vice President and UNT Denton Controller
Rafiu Fashina began his higher education career as a Budget Analyst at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2013 and joined UNT in 2015. He previously served as the Assistant Controller for UNT Dallas before assuming his current position. Rafiu holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Master of Science degree in Accounting, and MBA.

The UNT Denton Controller's Office is in charge of daily accounting and financial reporting. Each campus in the UNT System has its own Controller group. The Controller's Office offers peridoic training sessions, such as Journal Worksheet Automation Training. Find all of their training sessions on UNT Bridge by searching the Training Calendar.
Areas of operation include asset management closing and rollforward, construction in progress accounting and rollforward, gifts in kind capitalization, university investment & endowment accounting, intercompany & inter-unit balancing, external reporting (IFRS, IPEDS, Cost Study, etc.)
Areas of operation include operating deposit accounting, incoming ACH/EFT/Wire accounting, petty cash, miscellaneous receivables, prepaid expenses, general unearned revenue, consumable & merchandise for resale inventory, and other general university accounting.
Areas of operation include unrelated business income tax (UBIT), Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) management, unclaimed property reporting, and state funding reporting (GR Rec, Cash Flows, SPTR, SEFA, and other THECB reports.)
Areas of operation include student accounting GL operations, daily financial aid draws, remission of tuition income to the State of Texas, and sales tax payments.
